Whether you’re familiar with me, or visiting this page for the for the first time, I’d like to give you a sense of what I hope to accomplish with this blog.
First of all, a little bit about me–
My name is Amy Weaver and I live in Stowe, VT with my husband, Chris, and my two dogs, Winston and Churchill. I’m sure they’ll pop up in pictures along the way, so I’ll be sure to introduce them. I love to write, cook, garden, hike, and travel. Taking pictures of Vermont’s beautiful landscape and (of course) food is another hobby of mine.
Love for food and cooking has been a part of me since I was a child. Growing up, I was always in the kitchen with my mom and dad, especially on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Most of my recipes stem from memories with my parents and I’m so grateful their passion to be in the kitchen rubbed off on me.
By the way, although I live in Vermont, I’m originally from South Carolina, so my cooking has a lot of southern touches, which I love. There’s nothing like a sprinkling of southern on your food.
Okay, one last thing… What does “Bubs” stand for? Well, Chris says I have a bubbly personality, so many years ago, he nicknamed me “Bubbles” and then it got shortened to “Bubs”. So, now, most everyone I know calls me “Bubs”.
Now, more about my mission with Bubs’ Kitchen–
My cooking style is very simple and straight forward. I will share pictures and/or videos for each recipe, so you can see the dish in action along the way. I’ll give tips, substitutions ideas, and things to watch out for based on my screw ups in the past. And, of course, for most of the recipes, there’s a story that comes along with it.
Depending on my schedule and travel, I’m going to shoot for one recipe a week, or every other week. However, I also plan to share products I love, my gardening tips (and mess ups), canning tips (and mess ups), and anything else kitchen and food related I think people would want to know, learn, and read about. Those posts will be sprinkled throughout, and in between, my recipe posts. I want to stay engaged and dedicated to the page as much as I possibly can.
Please feel free to ask questions, reply to posts, give thoughts after trying a recipe, etc… I love ALL comments.
I want to say thank you to everyone who visits this page, participates, and helps make it into a blog where we can have a lot of fun with food.
